What is a Flex Hours Event?
Flex Hours Events happen occasionally on extreme weather days, when energy use across the grid is at its highest. During these events, we help reduce strain by temporarily shifting how your smart devices use energy.
How will I know when a Flex Event is happening??
You’ll get email or text before an event. You can also log into the Optiwatt app (web or mobile) and you’ll see a blue banner if the event is happening in the next 24 hours. If you’ve enabled push notifications on the Optiwatt mobile app, you should also get a notification right before the event.
How will a Flex Hours Event impact my EV charging?
We'll pause charging during peak demand hours and automatically resume once the event ends. Your vehicle will still follow your usual schedule and charging preferences—so it’s ready when you need it.

What is Optiwatt?
Optiwatt is an app that lets you connect and enroll your vehicle in FlexPower so PSE&G NJ can temporarily shift your charging outside of Flex Hours. You can learn more about Optiwatt here.
